But Are There Zeppoles?!

NOT WALL STREET -- Well it is official, Wall Street is Occupied.  So, wait your turn.  On September 29th "The New York City General Assembly occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square" (can we talk about the fact that this is not on WALL STREET?!?!) posted this official Declaration of the Occupation of New York City.  Well then.  Last July, Adbusters called for its alleged 90,000 readers to occupy Wall Street and many thousand people took the challenge to "flood into lower Manhattan, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months".  Now, according to Adbusters, here's the point: "we demand that Barack Obama ordain a Presidential Commission tasked with ending the influence money has over our representatives in Washington".  Alrighty, then.  Fair enough, I suppose.  As a 25-35 year old New Yorker whose friends are mostly artists and other poor people, OWS has become all I'm reading about in my Facebook newsfeed.  Here's the thing, though - this is the first I've heard of a Presidential Commission.  But as you've seen, my news comes from Facebook, so what do I know?  I will say, from my perspective (sitting in front of my Macbook I paid for with money I should've used to pay back some of my loans), there just isn't a lot of clarity of status updates from these folks.  Because I don't really get it.  What I'm hearing sounds a lot like my mom and me when I was 15 years old:

Me: "I DON'T WANT TO CLEAN MY ROOM!"
Mom: "Well, what if I make the bed?"
Me: "NO THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH!"
Mom: "But I thought that's the part you were most dreading."
Me: "NO!  THAT'S NOT THE WORST PART!  IT'S ALL THE WORST PART!  YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND ME!  I HATE IT ALL AND I HATE YOU AND HATE THIS ROOM!  AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO SO JUST SHUT UP!  NO GET BACK HERE!  BUT SHUT UP!  Fuck you, mom.  AND THAT'S MY BRUSH STOP TOUCHING IT!!!!!"

But that's just me.  Personally, I cannot wait to go check out this street fair slash protest tomorrow.

UPDATE: Not only are they not at Wall Street, they weren't at Liberty Square Park either.  WTF, OWS?!?!?!  If you're moving to Times Square at least leave a sister a dang Post-It!
